Here’s #5 in our Cartlidge & Browne series…the 2006 Rabid Red! http://www.cartlidgeandbrowne.com/. So, this wine was more of a challenge than some of the other C&B wines, we weren’t all that into it at first. Well, we both liked the nose – cherries, cocoa, oak – but the palate was a little rough. This blend of 55% Petite Syrah, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 4% Zinfandel is a big wine! Beautiful color and pretty intense flavors. Hmmm, maybe this needed some food. It was screaming for some grilled meat, or a meat lover’s pizza…well, we just happened to have some pepperoni slices and a little grated cheddar in the fridge! Perfect! That changed everything and the wine really came around. The big berry flavors softened and smoothed out, this is a really nice wine! Turns out some wines are just meant to be drank with food, which is a wonderful thing. Like they say at C&B, this is “Man’s Best Red!”
