We’ve been out to the Pleasant Valley Wine Trail recently, talking to the wine makers, winery owners, and soaking up all the beautiful scenery! (We’ve also been tasting the wines, which is a very GOOD thing!!!).
Well, we ended up stopping in at River Star, one of our old fave’s. We got to chatting with the wonderful people there and got a hold of some of their great wines. http://www.riverstarvineyards.com/. River Star’s flagship wine is their Syrah. We opened a 2005 and dug in. This is a nice, dark, rich Syrah…with all the lovely inky coloring and depth that you’d expect from a Syrah. Not a huge fruit bomb, but definitely has some nice balanced fruit along with some earthiness to make it interesting. We both really enjoyed this one and look forward to trying more of their stuff!
***Note – we mentioned William Allen in the video but need to correct the reference to his Twitter name – it’s @SonomaWilliam, not WilliamSonoma. Sorry, William. For that, we owe you a glass of wine…or two!!!
