We opened another bottle of Cleavage Creek…their Tracy Hills Secret Red. http://www.cleavagecreek.com/ It’s true to the name – Secret. We had a few theories on what was in the blend, but the overall consensus was that it was a relatively light, smooth blend that did well with a little air time; that is, breathing. When we first opened it it was a little tight, but an hour or so later it was really nice and smooth, with some tobacco, cherry, and chocolate and would go well with food. A nice every day red, in fact.
You might remember the Cleavage Creek story from some of our past blogs. They’re a winery dedicated to giving 10% of their gross profits to cutting edge Breast Cancer research, in an effort to improve the quality and success of treatment. Each bottle features a survivor and her story. It’s a cause that we feel very strongly about and are excited to be able to do our part to get their name out there.
Check them out and tell ’em Hoot ‘n Annie sent you!

Matt: Aerate…..the wine doesn’t really come together right away in the glass..they say it’s better to decant the wine in a nice pitcher or decanter if the wine is old or has been sitting awhile. My husband has opened a bottle and we’ve never decant it nor corked it until the next morning, the next day or two I’ll try it and it’s smoother not really flat. Has anyone ever done that? I think it’s how each person perfers to aerate their wines. Cheers!

Beverly, we’re big fans of decanting some wines…we’ve had that experience, too! The wine tastes totally different over time. Cool phenomena! Cheers, to you!!!
