We stopped to check out Chamisal Vineyards in Edna Valley (on Orcutt Rd. in the San Luis Obispo area) and were definitely not disappointed. A gorgeous spot located amongst the rolling hills of vineyards in the “Happiest place on Earth” (Oprah said so).
This place has a bitchin’ patio to hang out on and a very welcoming tasting room. The wines…yes, they have some, and yes they are fantastic! Hoot has been a big Chardonnay and Pinot Noir fan lately and Chamisal completely knocked his socks off…although he wasn’t wearing socks, this is flip flop county!
They have a fantastic list of wines, which you can see on their website if you click ‘Wines‘.
Pretty cool story, too. The winery has been there for quite some time, but was known as Domaine Alfred. They transitioned to Chamisal in 2008 and have been going strong every since! With a few different lines and styles, they’ve got you covered! Whether it’s their Estate Wines that showcase what their vineyards can do, Small Lot Wines that highlight specific characteristics of some varieties, or even their Stainless Chardonnay, you’ll be sure to find something that hits the spot!
Cheers!!!

Wow, cool place we love SLO so it’s a must see when we come up there. Thanks Matt for taking us inside and outside to see it all, awesome video as always.
Hoot (or Matt) says
Thanks Bev!! I love those places that have that great balance of inside and outside space…Chamisal definitely has that…gorgeous!!

I don’t know what is going on out in the Edna Valley. First it’s Chamisal, then Domaine Alfred, and now it’s Chamaisal again. I haven’t tasted the “new” Chamisal, but that vineyard turned out some spectacular wines as Domaine Alfred. One of the best Ponots I ever had.
By the way the the happiset place on earth is Club Eb on a Sat. evening after I have become non-ambulatory, but can still reach my wine glass.
Hoot 'n Annie says
Hey Gary, I think the Edna Valley is trying to keep you on your toes..wouldn’t want to become too predictable, right!!??
As for Club Eb after dark, I’m sure it’s a good time! Especially based on our last 6 hours with you. Hey wait…wine glass? Isn’t there supposed to be whiskey in there?
Gary Eberle says
Only if it’s Middletown. Then it’s not whiskey. It is pure heaven.
Gary Eberle says
Middleton. Sorry, don’t want you to call out the spelling police.
Hoot 'n Annie says
Hey Gary, we ain’t knowing nothing about spelling, so let it rip! So, is that how Kate Middleton got Prince William’s eye…with her whiskey???
Adam Montiel says
We were there a little earlier that day for a blending seminar with Fin, their winemaker. Bought an 02 Califa (their word for reserve) pinot from the old Mike Sinor winemaking days. That guy is so flippin good at making pinot. You tried that Sinor-LaVallee? Its his boutique label with his wife.
But we had a blast at Chamisol…super nice people, (Brette, Fin, and the rest) and really nice wine.
Hoot 'n Annie says
Hi Adam!!! Damn, we missed you at Chamisal! Definitely great wine, and we love us some Pinot! We’ll have to meet you out there next time and get our wine on. We’ve not tried Sinor’s label, but will keep an eye out because I’m sure it’s awesome! Cheers, dude!!!
Gary Eberle says
Hmmmmmm. Don’t know about Kate, but Annie do ever drink Irish Whiskey with dirty old men??
Hoot (or Matt) says
Hey Gary, I’m sure she would, cuz she drinks with this dirty young man everyday!!!
