It means “Three Rings” in Italian! That’s what! Three rings, that have come together to form a perfect synergy.
Tre Anelli is right next door to its sister winery, Consilience, and is creating incredible wines. First off though, the tasting room itself is beautifully done, a great spot to hang out, sip on wine, and people watch.
The wines that stood out for us were the 2008 Verdelho (very nice, refreshing wine), a 2007 Grenache (acidic, great with food), a 2007 Sangiovese (beautiful, another one great with food), a 2007 Centellinare (great nose, very nice finish), a 2007 Barbera (our notes simply said “Great!” And “want some red sauce with this!”), and lastly a not often seen 2007 Lagrein (fruity, rich, nice).
This was a fun stop for sure, pouring some intriguing wines that many people don’t see very often. Be sure to check them out, as well as their sister winery Consilience. Another one of those little places that have the trifecta down: good wines, good tasting room atmosphere, and good people!! Cheers!

Fuzzy wuzzy was a bear, fuzzy wuzzy had no hair, fuzzy wuzzy wasn’t very fuzzy was he? This is what happens to you when you get a 5 day viral infection in your larnynx and you can’t even swallow spit let alone wine and the pain is so bad that you miss sleep 4 consecutive nights. I went to the hospital with a bottle of Cab and requested that they give it to me introveinously because I was dehydrating, and they told me to count to 3 and drink a glass of water. It took me 40 minutes to stop screaming and another 45 to stop wimpering like a little girl. I think I am getting better. I can now swallow my spit without closing my eyes and counting to 3.
I’m suprised more people haven’t written nback nabout HdR. It was another great event.

Gary!!!! Damn! We missed you! Let’s get the pleasantries out of the way: glad you’re feeling better, man! Now…why all the whining? You’re bigger and badder than Fuzzy Wuzzy! And, you should have learned by now to travel with your own Cab I.V. kit…sheeesh! Anyways, hope to see you soon over a glass or 7!!!

Actually at work today. Not working, but here. I feel so much better. Damn thing really laid me down, but last night Marcy and I shared a bottle of Zin with no screaming. Lots of catching up so I’ll sign off for now.

I’m glad you didn’t scream your way through that bottle of Zin…I’m sure Marcy appreciated that, too! Glad to hear you’re coming back to life…it’s no fun out here without your dazzling comments!!!

Taking a quick break from 100,000 e-mails that I got while under the influence.
What did you think of this years HdR? I don’t know if it was because I had to buy my own ticket and didn’t man our booth, but I saw so many more people that I knew this year and actually got to spend so time with them. I love the people in our wine community. It is so much more real than some of the other areas. I mean we have have our characters, but very little of the snobiness that I see up north. I remember when you could go up and have lunch with Robert Mondavi, and then go out with Ed Sbragia, Mike Martini, and Dick Arrowood for dinner and whatever. I still go up and do it ,but it’s not the same. Right now the best fun and people are right here in the Paso area. Last Fri. The Haas family had the annual blending of the wines after the crush at their winery, and it was great. The Haas family treated the industry to all the oysters you could eat( and with me around thats a real challenge), BBQed lamb with everything for great meal. Then just sitting around and talking with Stephen, Terry, Jason, and many others while I was becoming my most infectious with this plague that I hoped I was passing around to my friends. Actually at this time I didn’t realize I had the plague. If I had I’m sure I would have french kissed that crazy Frenchman.
Anyway I’m on the mend and ready to raise hell.

Hey Gary, glad you’re on the mend! We had a great time at HdR…this was our first year attending the whole thing but we did do the Grand Tasting last year. The event was awesome, well put together and organized, and just a great group of people! Tons of incredible wine and food, too. We think the Paso wine area is the best! We have never had such a cool community anywhere else. Looking forward to seeing you at Wine Fest this weekend!
