We’re spoiled with all of the events that go on around here, all up and down the Central Coast…but one of our all-time favorites is the Winemaker Cookoff! This is an event that showcases the BBQ’ing skills of the winemakers in the area, and pits them against each other for all of us wine drinkin’ fools’ votes. We go, we drink, we taste delectable little bites, and then we let the winemakers bribe us for votes. We got invited by one of the great local online info sites, Travel Paso, to do a guest blog writeup on the event…and of course, we jumped at the opportunity. Travel Paso is a great resource for all things fun, interesting, and entertaining in the Paso Robles area.

Side note to our readers: you’re used to us posting blogs 5 days a week, and we’ve made a change to posting 3 days a week. This is in an effort to focus more on our actual content, making it more interesting and valuable to YOU! Don’t worry, our feet are still on the street! We’re Drinking Wine for the People, and that’s you! So, let us know what you think! Should we post more or less? Are there any topics you’d like to hear about? Talk to us, people!

You know we would like to hear from you 24/7 if we could, but do what is convenient to your busy schedule we are always supportive of whatever you decide. Have fun this week-end at the Winemakers Cookoff. WE are going to wine tasting/dinner with hubby and a friend at Delius Restaurant in Signal Hill this week-end. Cheers!

You’re too funny, Bev! We’re not very exciting 24/7, but we appreciate the feedback! Maybe we should see if somebody wants to sponsor us on a reality TV show…we could call it “Working Winos” or “Drinking Duo” or something like that. What do you think?
The Cookoff will be great! One of the coolest events of the year…sounds like you’ll have fun, too! Enjoy!!!

I agree with Bev love to hear from you guys 24/7. I hear you though about scaling back the posts to have better content. I have done this as well lately – 2 to 3 posts for each blog each week – frees you to get out there so you can write better content. I wish we were in town this weekend for this event, but maybe hit the Olive Festival while in that area later on this month. I have learned more about the Paso Robles area from Travel Paso/Paso Wine as well as reading your blog, especially about the PR Wineries – Thanks by the way:)

Wow, thanks, Renee! We’ll see what we can do about the 24/7 thing…we love putting stuff out there into the blogosphere, but want to be sure it’s good stuff!
We just may see you at the Olive Fest, we’ll try to make it to that this year. There’s so much good stuff around here in Paso, so glad you’ll be up to check it out!

I don’t get tired of you guys as is, but 3 days a week still sounds good. I don’t post a comment on most days just because of time and like now pain. I should because i really think what you are doing for the Paso wine country is great and should be done 24/7/365. That may be a little unrealistic. Just keep up the good work.
Now to the important stuff. Since you will have at least a little more time perhaps you’d like to come over and rub my knee. It still really hurts, and I know you guys want to help out, so I’m just saying.
Got some good news and some bad news from the doctors about my knee. The good news is that my knee is healing pretty well and coming along as can be expected. The bad news is that I’ve contracted a SRSA infection. Thats that anti-biotic resistant bacteria they call the flesh eating bacteria. Probably got it from Toby. Any way they said not to worry because at my weight I still have at least another good 10 years.
Glad to hear you’re going to be covering the Winemaker Cookoff. It is for a really good cause and the Paso Robles Rotary Club passes everything through to the schools. Come by our booth. I’ll be sitting there like Big Daddy in “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” with my leg up and a glass of Cab in my hand. I think we are doing grilled foie gras served on imported Brittany pears, matched with a little “82 Chateau Y quem. It’s either that or something to do with Tri-Tip and ” Up Shiraz”
Bev you’re going to miss some great foie gras.
Hoot (or Matt) says
Hey Gary…I would offer to rub your knee but I know you’d prefer to have Annie do it! Sorry about the flesh eating bacteria…I hate it when that happens!
The scale back to 3 days a week on the blog is to try to spend more time on content…we’ll see if that works. If not, we’ll go to several posts per day, seven days a week and completely bombard the market, you never know!
We will definitely see you at the Winemaker Cookoff, but I am quite scared of getting near the flesh eating bacteria…so we’ll have to work something out about that!
Gary says
No problem. They’re really not flesh eating. They eat crisco so it’s only my problem.
Hoot 'n Annie says
Well, that’s a relief Gary! We’ll leave our Crisco at home! Maybe try pouring Cab over your leg..???
