Travel…we all do it to some degree sooner or later, right? Well, we just got back from the biggest travel adventure we’ve ever been on; Aachen, Germany and Paris, France! We were gone from home for 12ish days (saying “12ish” helps account for some of the time difference and jet lag) which happens to be one of the longest times we’ve ever been gone. The trip was a mix of business and good ‘ole vacation. Needless to say, this trip was incredible, interesting, unique, beautiful, eye-opening, and challenging. We had some logistically tedious moments, when transferring from plane to train to automobile, all while on a strange new sleep schedule, surrounded by new sights, interesting smells, and different people!
Soooo, we discovered some new travel patterns and ditched some old ones, but keep going back to talking about what travel does to a person. The good, the bad, and the ugly, there is definitely an effect that packing a bag and taking off from your comfy place has on you as an individual. It forces you to open your eyes and use your brain. It makes you eat different food and look at people differently. It makes you feel uncomfortable and anxious. It makes you feel that cool mixture of excitement and fear, that happens to be one of the best motivators for change and perspective!
Have you seen or found things in your travels that has made you re-evaluate your views on humans? One of the things we have found is that people everywhere are intrinsically the same on some level; we all want to be happy, healthy, and prosperous. We all have certain common behaviors and motivators, and ALL of us have a desire to connect with other people in some way! A smile, a helpful gesture, or a scowl can affect a person that lives next door to you, or a person that lives across the globe from you.
Tell us about your travel experiences…what have you seen, learned, taken in, or changed about your own life??? It’s inevitable, so let it roll!
