If you haven’t heard of Allen Shoup, you need to do some research, because he has contributed a lot to shape the wine industry as we know it today. We had the privilege of sitting down with Allen at Dolphin Bay in Pismo Beach, CA the day he was receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from Sunset Magazine at their Savor the Central Coast wine and food event (that was a mouthful).
Bottom line is this, check out the links in this post to read up about Allen, he is a true wine legend. There is no way we could do a proper write up about him; we’re just not that talented. Having the opportunity to sit with him and chat, on and off camera, was amazing. Off camera we covered everything from education in America to getting people in to drinking wine, while on camera…well, you’ll see. We can’t express in words how humble and kind he is, check out the interview, where he tells us all about his “Long Shadows” wine project, inspired by his long-time friend and mentor, Robert Mondavi. We strongly urge you to do some proper reading on Allen and his accomplishments…extraordinary!
We owe many people a thank you for getting this interview, but mostly, we thank Allen for his time and his willingness to chat with us. And congratulations again on the Lifetime Achievement Award…we look forward to the next chapter!
