One of our friends (Kristie) on our Hoot ‘n Annie Facebook page had asked us for good Sangria recipes and I was stumped because I have never made it…but I knew Annie had so she gave Kristie a recipe that she had used before. We asked our friends on the HnA page for more recipes and many folks came forward with interesting recipes for this summer cocktail, so thank you to those that did (Joanie, Paulie, Kelly, Chris, and Nicolette)…I think you helped avoid a crisis!!
In all seriousness though, this is yet another reason I love social media and our little Hoot n Annie community. Someone can come out with a question and others come to the table with some possible answers. We’ve also really noticed how community comes together via social media on our Little Browne blog and Facebook page, which is about our journey of being pregnant. When we’ve had questions about things there are so many people that come forward and give us tips from their life experience…LOVE THAT!
Sangria in the Summer???
Now down to the question of this post…Sangria! Do you have favorite Sangria recipes? Oh…you don’t like Sangria? What do you drink in the summer? Beer? What kind? Wine? Red or white? Gin? Vodka? What brands?
I ask these questions because I know that my food and drink habits change throughout the year due to the seasons, temperatures, mood, and so on. My assumption is that I’m not alone but it’s always fascinating to hear what others are drinking and to see if they go through some of the changes that I do. So let us know in the comment section below or go to the HnA Facebook page and leave your ideas and recommendations…we’d love to hear!!
Cheers!

Suggestion: “White” Sangria. Pick a fruity white (viognier is good) and add watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, and guava (guava is key). Let sit for wish hours in the fridge in a pitcher. Add some ginger ale for sparkle. Drink like woah.
Also, my husband and his best man made HUGE batch sangria for our wedding… I believe his recipe was (red) zin, strawberries, blood oranges, lemons, grenadine (no joke), and tonic water. It was a hit.

Another lubricating libation for Summer Concerts in the Park: Skip-n’-Go-Naked (Just don’t do it in public after imbibing…)- Red Solo Cup filled with Ice
– 2oz Vodka
– 7-8oz Pink Lemonade (Pink is important)
– Top with Beer (Matt, I know you like the Bud Lights, but any inexpensive beer in a can will work)
Enjoy
