All About Crush and Roll West 2012
This was the fourth year for this event and I say the same thing each year…what an awesome event! I’m not sure how it gets better each year but from 2011 to 2012 there were some big additions. This year Manguinn No. 1 Absinthe joined the event and the one and only Dr. Bill (Bill Sysak) from Stone Brewing Company was in the house talking beer and stogies.
There were 20 cigar vendors in attendance as well as about 20 wineries and several options for beer including Figueroa Mountain Brewery out of Buellton, Stone Brewing from San Diego, Dogfish Head, Central Coast Brewing, and Sierra Nevada. As if all this wasn’t enough there were seminars you could partake in along with the Friday poker night, live entertainment, raffles on both days, an auction Friday night, and cigar rolling. This event takes place Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, I’m not sure how they pack so much activity in to so little time but it all seems to flow seamlessly.
I’ve noticed another interesting thing about this event now that it’s in its 4th year; I’m starting to recognize many of the same people that have been at the event each of the previous three years…and it’s not just locals. People are traveling to Paso Robles as attendees and vendors to enjoy this event. At the same time, I’m seeing lots of new faces to the event.
If I were asked what is the best thing about the event, I would have to say it’s the “community” that gathers together each year to put this event on and partake in it. The cast of characters includes Christina with The Boss Cigars, Brandon Shepard (helps out with the event), Doc “Stogie Fresh”, Kilt Bill, Jeff with Roxo Port Cellars, Bruce Oda, Andy the Cigar Man, Jac Jacobs (winemaker), the infamous Cork Dorks (Adam and Jeremy), and a ton of other folks that make this event a family affair. It really is a great group of people that come together to enjoy the lifestyle, share stories, and relax.
In the slideshow below I hope you get an idea of what this event is all about…and next week we’ll have a little bit of video to share with you from the event. Oh, and congrats to Bill for winning the trip to Camp Camacho in Honduras…I’m forcing myself to be nice about this but I’m super jealous!!
Now get out there and Crush & Roll!!!
