More specifically, A Taste Adventure Tour of Mendocino. Annie picked this up from TastingRoom.com a while back when we were trying to plan a pre-baby vacation up to Mendocino. But as you can guess, life got busy with trying to buy a house, moving, prepping for the baby (who will be delivered 10-12-12 via C-section), and work; funny how that happens. Instead we ended up taking a handful of days and going to Venice Beach and Newport to visit some family…which worked out quite well.
Back on Track with TastingRoom.com, Hoot
Sorry, I tend to ramble. So if you’ve been stuck on a deserted island like Tom Hanks in Castaway and have not heard about TastingRoom.com, you need to listen up and get to their website and start tasting. It’s this amazingly awesome way of tasting wines at a very affordable price. Rather than being stuck buying a bottle of wine that you don’t know about, you can buy one of these kits that has six different 50ml bottle of wine.
In addition to the 50ml bottles they also have 100ml bottles and the regular size 750ml bottles. I think this is a genius way to taste wines and to be honest, I’m just pissed that I didn’t come up with it. I’m over it now and completely support the TastingRoom.com movement and hope you jump on board as well.
The Mendocino kit that Annie ordered contained the following six wines:
2009 Paul Dolan Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc
2007 Wind Racer Chardonnay
2008 LaFollette Pinot Noir (Manchester Ridge Vineyards)
2007 Carol Shelton Wild Thing (Old Vine Zinfandel)
2008 Artezin Petite Sirah
2009 Seabiscuit Ranch Superfecta Meritage (46% Canbernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc)
We enjoyed each of them for different reasons but definitely gravitated toward the Wind Racer Chardonnay, the Artezin Petite Sirah, and the Seabiscuit Ranch Meritage.
Good stuff Mendocino, and keep up the great work TastingRoom.com! Cheers!

Hi April! Baby and I are great!!! I’m feeling good and already up and around. Little Sammy is the happiest baby I’ve ever met, but I’m probably a little biased. Hoot is a natural Dad and is doing an awesome job!

Hey David. It’s a great way to try things that you wouldn’t necessarily get ahold of. They’ve got some very cool combos…check them out and let us know what you think!

Ordered the Oregon Pinot Noir samples to prep for our wine tasting week in Oregon next summer as well as the Mendocino one for my hubby for Christmas. Now if I can just keep him from opening them until then…
Hoot 'n Annie says
Ha! That’s great!!! Let us know what you think. One thing to keep in mind; the little samples don’t last as long as a full-sized bottle does, so you may have to use that as an excuse to drink them now…hehe!

Congrats on the new baby (a week old now) ! I missed the announcement! Best wishes to you and Annie!
