Since having our boy on October 12, Annie has been anxious to get back on the horse…meaning she’s ready to drink and eat. Our first non medical outing was to Hunter Ranch Golf Course (a couple of weeks ago when my dad was in town) to enjoy lunch on the veranda (or maybe it’s just a patio). Annie was giddy and Sammy slept through most of it…so that was good. Side note, if you have followed our blog at all you have seen us mention Hunter Ranch often…they have awesome lunches and dinners, as well as fantastic Sunday brunch, check them out.
The day after that we decided to go to downtown Paso Robles and had lunch at Vivant Fine Cheese (amazing sandwiches!!) and then headed over to Pithy Little Wine Co. followed by the Clayhouse Tasting Room. We had a great time at both tasting rooms and both have some very nice wines. It was cool having my dad and his wife along to help (if we needed it) on “handling” Sammy boy if he got out of hand…which he never did!
Our first outing with Sammy by ourselves was a day or so later when we went downtown to see our friend Chalan at Parrish Family Vineyards…then to lunch at Pappy McGregor’s (which we still call The Kilt because that’s way better). Sammy did great on this outing as well…and Annie started feeling like a normal human again. You can’t keep an energetic, motivated girl back!!
Now that we are back to being seasoned veterans of the get out and go crowd, we have been to Derby Wine Estates (where Katie the Pilgrim met baby Sammy, and by the way they have awesome wines. In fact, Annie brought a little picnic for us to have there and our friend Papa Jeff came to hang out), Hug Cellars (two of the nicest people, Augie and Raquel, along with some really good wines), Brochelle (to see our friend Shelbi and taste their line-up of tasty wines), Chili’s (yes, Chili’s), and Villa Creek Restaurant (our own Cheer’s).
Point of all this is…don’t take us out of the line-up just because we had a wee little tiny baby boy wonder. Sure, we won’t be out as much as we were before, but we’re still here and for me personally it is awesome to have Annie back. It’s just a different environment when her and I can share a glass of wine or thirteen versus her simply carting me around (partially kidding). The baby thing has and will continue to completely change our lives…but we still love our family and friends, we still love hanging out, and we still love food and wine; the cool thing now is that we have someone to pass all that awesomeness on to.
So cheers to all of you on this lovely Friday. I turn 36 today and I truly could not be happier. Maybe you’ll see us on the wine trail soon with our little homie Sammy Bear! Cheers!
Awesome, Awesome, that’s all I can say, great blog as usual. Little Sammy is so cute in the picture and I bet it’s fun to show him off, proud daddy and mommie. Keep up the good work and someday I hope to run into you on the wine trail…. Cheers!
You rock Beverly!! It’s been a fun new adventure with the addition of Sammy. And we would LOVE to run into you on the wine trail!!! 🙂
Great post…glad everything is back on track. Can’t wait to meet Sammy.
Rusty, sorry for the late reply…we were not getting email notices of any comments. Thanks for the feedback and yes, next time you are around let us know and we can have you come by the house or something!! Hope you are well, Happy Thanksgiving!
Oh my, I am so envious of Sammy, who wouldn’t want to be sleeping next to an awesome EMPTY bottle of wine! I can’ wait until I come up and join you guys on the jaunt through the town.
Marla, sorry for the late response but we were not getting email notifications that we got comments. Hope all is well and we can’t wait to see you when you come up. Happy Thanksgiving to you!!
Good to hear you’re back on the trails! There are a couple of new parents that often hang out at the wine shop I often go for tastings, the little ones seem to like all the chatter–not to mention the relaxed parents!
Sorry for the late response David, we were not getting email notifications that we got comments on the blog. That’s funny, kids like relaxed parents. I know some people freak out when we walk into a tasting room with a baby, but to be honest, I just don’t care. We are very careful…one of us will taste or we’ll taste and dump, either way we are being responsible and it’s all good. I know Sammy loves the voices and laughter. We have tried to fill our home with that since he was born, always having friends over and all that stuff! Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!
