We live in little, tiny, quaint Paso Robles…who knew there would be so much sh!t going on for us?
In fact, there is so much going on that we’ve recently had to start turning down some invites and I blame little Sammy for this. If only he could take care of himself at almost 10 months old, then we could party like we used to.
All that being said, here’s what I’m talking about in Paso Robles…
Tomorrow (Saturday August 10) is a Winemaker Dinner at Villa San Juliette Winery
Tomorrow is also the Winemaker’s Cookoff put on by the Paso Robles Rotary
August 13 – Industry Night in downtown Paso Robles
August 16 – A Friday night mixer for the Olive Festival happening the next day
August 17 – The Paso Robles Olive Festival
August 17-18 Backstage Barrel Weekend with the 46 West Wineries
August 24 – Paso Mac & Cheese Festival
September 6 & 7 – Crush & Roll West (A cigar, wine, and beer event)
September 14 – Boys & Girls Club Winemakers’ Dinner
October 8 – Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers featuring Edie Brickell at the Vina Robles Amphitheater
October ??? – Planning a 5 day trip before or after Sammy’s birthday, still unsure
October 10 – 14 – Matt’s sister in town visiting
October 12 – Sammy’s 1st birthday
October 29 – An Evening With The Moody Blues at the Vina Robles Amphitheater
November 7 – 10 – Paso Robles Garagiste Festival
November 9 – Matt’s birthday
December 29 – Annie’s birthday
Obviously I didn’t include everything. There are wine tasting invites, Holidays I left off the list, our normal date night each week, and other odds and ends of stuff. Paso Robles is a happening spot to be, that’s for sure. Since Sammy was born I’m used to being asleep by 10 pm and I’m up any time between 4 and 5 am, unless I have a hangover.
I have two points I suppose:
1) Paso really is a great place and I’m super stoked to be able to live here. There is always something going on like the aforementioned stuff, Concerts in the Park through summer, Holiday events downtown, wine events, and so on. We love that.
2) Life can get busy really fast. It can be overwhelming. It’s really important to focus in and maintain good physical mental health. I’m learning that saying yes to everything (regarding invites, events, or even work) is a real stress for me, which in turn affects other areas of my life. So if I turn you down for some reason or another, it’s not out of disliking you or not wanting to hang out or attend your event…it’s because I only have two hands, so many hours in a day, and so many days left on this planet…I need to stay sane (which is why we go through so much wine too).
I will end with two questions:
Are you going to any of the above events?
Do you ever feel overwhelmed with all the stuff on your calendar?
Gary says
Oh man, how could you forget the best wine and food event on Paso. The winemaker cookoff at the event center from 6-9:00 tomorrow Sat. the 10th. Last time you’ll get to taste the ’80 Cab. For $75.00 all the food and wine you can consume from 25 wineries and for dessert cakes from the Madonna Inn. And music from Julie and the Bad dogs. I am embarassed for you. No more love and kisses.

Haha, Gary…not sure how I missed that on there we will add it now. We are unable to go this year. Been the last 5 or 6 though and you’re right, it’s an awesome event. It’s at the fair grounds this year right? Anyways, bummed we can’t go and I know you are too!! 🙂
Stephanie Burrage says
We are in Paso for the weekend. Seeing Tony Bennett tomorrow night.
Matt aka Hoot says
Awesome, Stephanie. Vina Robles is an awesome venue. We’ve been once so far and loved it. If you don’t mind, let me know what you think of it and of Tony!! Enjoy. 🙂

You forgot the Backstage Barrel Weekend with the 46 West Wineries on August 17th & 18th. http://backstagebarrelweekend.bpt.me/

Matt aka Hoot says
LOL, yes you are Heather. The big bash in Paso!!! 🙂
Steve says
Now I feel pressured to come up with a day we can have the Browne family over for dinner???!!! Kidding aside, we would like to have you over to spend some “down time”…leave the driving to us! We need to set some time aside soon…
Hoot (or Matt) says
We would enjoy that, Steve. Some hangout time away from wine events will be good. Let’s find some different possible dates and then pick one. 🙂
