I’ve put together some notable events and recent mentions about Paso Robles and the surrounding area right here at your fingertips! The California Wine Festival in Santa Barbara starts tomorrow, July 17 – July 19. There will be many Paso Robles wineries there so if you’re in the area get your butt over there and drink up.
Two local restaurants will be honored by Wine Spectator Magazine with Wine Spectator Awards of Excellence. Those restaurants are Il Cortile Ristorante and The Restaurant at Justin. Congrats to them and to Paso Robles on a whole for the amazing growth of the food scene and with that, the quality. It’s truly an awesome time to live here.
After a little bit of a hiatus I have started doing more wine reviews on Cooking Stoned. The latest one is on the 2011 Cass Winery’s Rockin’ One Red. The other review I did coming off the hiatus was on the 2012 Broken Earth Chardonnay (Disclaimer: Broken Earth is currently a client of mine but all opinions are my own).
The California Mid-State Fair has come back to Paso Robles with today (July 16) being the starting day. I took Sammy down the road to see the annual “cattle drive” which serves as the starting gun for the fair. Good times (photos below in slideshow). P.S. I’m bummed I am missing the Zac Brown Band concert on the first day. We saw them at this fair back when they opened for Alan Jackson and again a couple of years later when they headlined. They’re awesome!
There was an article in the local paper titled, ‘California water use rises amid crippling drought’. I’m baffled that anything needs to be said here but I will go ahead and say it…stop wasting water. We can all do little things to make a big difference. To anyone that feels like they have a right to use water however they want simply because they pay their water bill, you really need to get a clue and look beyond the tip of your nose. Stop thinking about yourself and think about the big picture…it’s common sense folks.
There are a ton of awesome mentions in this article about ‘Paso Robles Wine Country’ from Passport Magazine. Well worth the read. Well done folks.
That’s all for now I think. Just some things worth taking a look at. Cheers!
