Late last week I saw the first example of one of the new Paso Robles AVA’s being used on a wine label. The photo was posted by Adelaida Cellars and on the back label it says: Adelaida District – Paso Robles. I’m glad to see Paso Robles on there, as that was an addition to the law, but it will be interesting to see what this new labeling does over the long haul.
The second thing you’ll notice about the back of that label is how many different varieties are in this particular wine from Adelaida…WOW!
Anyways…have you seen any new labels with the new AVA’s listed yet?

I haven’t seen one with the new AVA yet but will be on the lookout! I think it’s a good idea for it to include Paso in the name…why not tie into the increasingly good reputation Paso has developed?

David, that was the big concern. If wineries only used their new AVA name it would hurt all the marketing that has been done for over a decade of the “Paso Robles” AVA…as it was prior to the addition of new AVA’s. Glad they added that Paso Robles still had to remain on the bottle.
