We recently went to Tooth & Nail Winery for the first time since they took over the old Eagle Castle location on HWY 46 West here in Paso Robles. My dad and step-mom were in town so Annie and I thought it would be a good time to go give their “Burger & Cab Sauv Friday Night” a shot. And guess what…we took Sammy too.
I can honestly say I went with zero expectation due to never having had their wine before but to be frank, I’ve never heard of Tooth & Nail nor their parent company…ever. Since they have been in at their new location I have however, heard good things.
We arrived to see many of the exterior changes. They had black topped the long driveway up to the castle as well as the parking lot. That’s impressive if for no other reason than it cuts down on a ton of dust. They also added a good amount of landscaping in the parking lot area which really made the entry more inviting than it once was. Right outside the entrance to the winery they added a cover (pergola style), hanging lights for ambiance, and many seating areas and tables. Really softened the somewhat out-of-place castle look.
Inside they repainted everything and added cool furniture to take a once cold space and make it far more comfortable and inviting. Honestly impressed with what they did to warm the place up. We were greeted at the door and the gentleman said to take a seat wherever we wanted to and also informed us to feel free to roam about the castle…meaning, head on upstairs and go outside to check out the views. We did this…and the views are stunning.
We grabbed a table near the fireplace so we could be near where Dan Curcio (performer for the night) would be playing. If you haven’t heard him, Annie and I love his sound. Not just that, he’s a genuinely good dude. Sammy loved that he was playing guitar, harmonica, and singing. He’s a one man band and sounded phenomenal as usual.
The four of us ended up ordering two burgers and splitting them rather than one burger a piece because, well, we had stuffed our faces Thursday and Friday so we weren’t lacking for food. That said…the burgers were freaking amazing. Normally the deal is that you get a burger and a glass of their Possessor for $20.00. Based on the fact that we shared two burgers and we did glasses of different wines I’m not sure what the final cost was but it seemed very reasonable to me. I only tried a few of their wines but ended up having their Chardonnay and really enjoyed it.
I’m not sure what else to say. It was a really great experience. The girl (Is that bad? Should I say woman?), Andie, that took care of us literally gave us the best customer service experience I have had in, possibly, my life. She was kind, funny, attentive, and even as the place filled up she took care of the four of us and Sammy amazingly well. It was so cool that when we left we all hugged. Good times.
So here’s the deal: Check out their Burger & Cab night for sure. It is so worth it. If you go taste their full list of wines let me know what you think…I like the few I tried so I look forward to going back for the rest. If Andie is working the time you go be sure to have her take care of you because awesome is awesome. Lastly, check out musician and singer, Dan Curcio, live anytime you can and go check out his website…take a listen…and buy his music. I doubt you will regret it (don’t miss the video of him below).
Cheers folks!

Owner Rob Murray is a long-time grape grower and vineyard manager on the Central Coast. The wines are really good and the packaging for all of their brands is really cool. Since they’re a client I do hope we make sure you hear more about them in the future!
