We have never been big go-out-for-breakfast people but recently we’ve been getting into it. It’s kind of fun to get up on a Saturday or Sunday morning, grab Sammy, and go out for a good breakfast and hopefully mimosas. So what are all the breakfast spots in Paso Robles and which is your personal favorite?
Please, don’t tell me Taco Bell, McDonald’s, or Denny’s.
Here’s a list of the breakfast spots I am remembering right now (I have included spots that just have scones or muffins too):
So who am I forgetting? And what’s your favorite?
Elizabeth White says
If you ever make it to SLO on the weekends, Luna Red’s brunch is amazing. http://elizabethinslo.blogspot.com/2014/02/downtown-san-luis-obispo-luna-red.html
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Elizabeth, yep, we love Luna Red’s brunch along with Novo. 🙂
Aryel Sawdey says
My favorite is Chicos, or Springside! The Breakfast is so good 🙂
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Springside, another one I forgot. Been there once and we did like it.
Joanie says
Unfortunately we haven’t done breakfast much in Paso. I did Margie’s one time when I came over on my own and WOW what a bunch of food! Good though, didn’t even eat it all. Gianormas omelet! lots of potatoes. Took the leftovers home to Johnny. The last time we ate breakfast in town was at Panolivo. Very nice, Johnny had the eggs benedict and I think I had the spinch & mushroom quiche. In SLO it is the Del Monte Cafe, Morro is Dorn’s… But we stay in Baywood most of the time and get breakfast with our room, so it’s La Palapa or Back Bay Cafe. Good Tides used to be an option too…we really liked them!
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Right on Joanie. Not sure I know of Gianormas???
Ange Gos says
Enoteca has great mimosas and a full bar. I love the Eggs Benedict.
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Ange, that’s right…we did their spot once. Been a long time though.
Steve Baker says
Of course our favorite of all time is no longer in business…”Wilson’s”! Even before we moved up here that was our “go-to” breakfast joint…classic diner style and waitresses…always good food and even better coffee!
Not a favorite as the lines are always too long is “Joe’s”.
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Steve, yep, been to Wilson’s many, many times. It’s pretty cool that we have so many choices in a small area like Paso.
Jim Roberts says
At High Ridge Manor we are in the breakfast business, and when it is our turn for someone to make breakfast for us Chicos takes the prize. Great food all day long at Chicos!
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Thanks, Jim. Glad to hear that.
Rusty Eddy says
Hoover’s was always my favorite. The ambiance added so much. Now you can usually find me at Joe’s.
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Yep…Hoover’s is another local spot that closed. Bummer.
Scott Brennan says
My favorites are Panolivo, Joe’s Place, Vic’s, Artisan, and Kelly’s at Hunter Ranch. All depends on the mood and the group we are with.
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Good points on mood and the group you’re with. I’ve been to each of those except Panolivo, need to try that one.
Tess Ramirez says
We’re big breakfast fans and don’t like long lines. Joe’s during the week is okay, but it’s a tourist trap on the weekends. We stick with Paso Robles Golf Club for the weekends. Unless we want something really special, when we go to Kelly’s at Hunter Ranch. Panolivo always leaves something to be desired for us. I always walk out of their feeling like I didn’t get my money’s worth. Also, I’m an eggs Benedict purist. They should be topped with Holladaise, not béchamel like Panolivo uses. After a long night of drinking, a plate of chilaquiles from Los Robles also hits the spot. Be sure and get flour tortillas on the side!
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Tess, good list, thank you. Love the chilaquiles at Los Robles.
Ceressa says
New place for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Golden Oak Grill off Creston road where the old Manor grill was. Down from the Subway. Our understanding is it owned and operated by two partners both chefs. One who is from Il Cortile and the other from original Kellys. Wonderful new place. Not to be missed!
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Been there for dinner a few times but haven’t tried the breakfast yet, on my list!
Jeff says
My wife and I love the cowboy benedict at Vics and we love sitting at the counter for that old fashioned diner feel. We also love Hunter Ranch, Springside, Cowgirl and Viks.
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Great choices, Jeff. I agree with that old time diner feel at Vic’s…Paso Robles Inn Cafe has that feeling too.
Stasi Seay says
Hands down – Joe’s Place for: 2 eggs OE with chili verde on top, home fries and flour tortillas. Oh, and the pancakes are perfection!
Best brunch: Hunter Ranch!
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Great choices. Glad we’ve gotten more breakfast spots in town…nice diversity.
Tess Ramirez says
Stasi, THAT sounds like mine kind of breakfast!
John says
To be honest, I’ve never been really satisfied with a breakfast spot in Paso. I’ve been to most on the list. Used to go to Big Sky in SLO quite a bit. I will try Chico’s based on a couple of the above comments.
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
Really John? Interesting. I thought for sure that everyone would be able to list at least one they love in Paso. Let me know what you think of Chico’s when you go.
Tess Ramirez says
I don’t know if I just get stupid when I get on here, or if it’s my auto-correct, but sorry for the typos and mis-spellings 😛
Matt (a.k.a. Hoot) says
LOL….no worries at all. I make mistakes all the time.
