Beer and pizza…need I say more? I don’t think I need to say much about Barrelhouse Brewing. We’ve been saying great things about them since they opened. Great beer, awesome people, and a beautiful place to hang out. I especially like that they are family friendly.
So how about that pizza? We’ve had the pizza made by Artie (owner of Gypsy Flame Pizza) many times over the last couple of years but it was great to go check him out at his new digs, Barrelhouse. It appears as though he will be there every Sunday from roughly 11am until closing (this may change so don’t yell at me, call Barrelhouse or follow Gypsy Flame on Facebook).
I think the combo of Barrelhouse and Gypsy Flame are pretty unbeatable. So please, go in and support an amazing brewery as well as an artisan pizza maker.
Let’s get down to business. Artie is making these pizzas on a wood fired grill. Yep, I said it. And they are amazing. We had a homemade sausage, Italian parsley, and mozzarella pizza as well as the tomato, basil, goat cheese, and mozzarella. That wasn’t it…we also scored some mac n’ cheese…done on the GRILL! I loved the smokiness that came through in each dish. Smoky but not overwhelming. Great flavors.
Here’s how good it was. Between the three of us (Sammy had a piece or two) we ate all the mac n’ cheese, the whole sausage pizza, and took three pieces of the other pizza home which…wait for it…I ate for breakfast the next morning.
That’s all I got. Go check him out and tap me on the shoulder because I will be the one in front of you in line for pizza and beer.
