ZANOLI Wines is a project that was started in 2014 by Jimmy and Shelly Zanoli. Jimmy’s family is behind Bella Luna Winery and in 2014 the family presented Jimmy and Shelly with this:
“In November 2014, their family presented them with an opportunity to have Jimmy as their full time Winemaker at Bella Luna and start their own label, ZANOLI. They moved home right away and started to go to work. Shelly took the role at the winery as Director of Sales and Marketing and Proprietor/President of Sales for ZANOLI.”

We tried two wines, one in bottle and one in barrel.
2015 Chenin Blanc – 50 cases – 13% alc – $28.00
2015 Syrah in barrel – 25 cases once bottled in 2017 – Price will be determined upon release
The Chenin Blanc was extremely nice. Flavors of apricot/ peach, good acidity, easy drinking…which means I’m in trouble. The Syrah is from the Glenrose Vineyard on the west side of Paso Robles. It had good fruit on the nose and palate with some baked blueberry flavors as well. Annie always gets baked goods in red wine. It will be interesting to see what this wine does between now and release. Always fun to see how wine evolves in barrel.
I’m also fascinated to watch where the ZANOLI project goes. They are good people that have a solid vision for their label and it will be fun to watch it grow. They taste by appointment only and you can do that here. Be sure to check them out and if you do go, be sure to pick me up a bottle of that Chenin Blanc.
Jimmy is an excellent winemaker and you should see a big jump in the over all quality of the brand. I was very much interested in having him as winemaker at Eberle. Shelly on the other hand could have done better. She could have married a handsome winemaker. Love + Kisses
