Recently, when we went to Taste ZANOLI Wines, we also got some news from Jimmy and Shelly Zanoli on the Bella Luna wine brand. As you may or may not know, Bella Luna was co-founded by Jimmy’s dad. You can read about Bella Luna here and ZANOLI Wines here.
As I mentioned in our blog post on ZANOLI, Jimmy and Shelly got an offer they couldn’t refuse. Here’s a quote from their website:
“In November 2014, their family presented them with an opportunity to have Jimmy as their fulltime Winemaker at Bella Luna and start their own label, ZANOLI. They moved home right away and started to go to work. Shelly took the role at the winery as Director of Sales and Marketing and Proprietor/President of Sales for ZANOLI.”
We barrel tasted a Nebbiolo from Bella Luna that will be released in 2017. This wine will end up replacing their Tempranillo.
Another Bella Luna wine tasted was their 2015 Bella Bianco which is a 100% Tocai Friulano. Heard of that variety? I had, but only one other time and I don’t remember where we tasted it. I really enjoyed this wine and plan on having it around for the warm Paso Robles summers.
Shelly also showed us the new labels for the Bella Luna line. You can see them in the photos below.
Bella Luna makes about 1,400 cases per year and ZANOLI makes about 75 cases with plans on growing.
Be sure to check out Bella Luna and if you want to taste ZANOLI Wines, you can go to their website and make an appointment.
