This was the 8th annual Warbirds, Wings, and Wheels car and plane show at Estrella Warbird Museum here in Paso Robles. My guess is that this is our fourth time going and as usual, it doesn’t disappoint. I’m not a big car or plane guy but there is still something magical walking around all of these amazing machines. Works of art, really.
It’s one of those scenarios where you ponder, “if these machines could talk”. There is so much history behind them (the cars and the planes). You think about the people that have owned them and the eras they come from…pretty badass if you ask me.
This event is also great to take the kids to. We took Sammy and he likes to climb on the old helicopter and other rigs (the ones they let you, obviously, not the newly restored classics) as well as partake in the kid’s corner. They had a couple of bounce houses along with the big blow up slide. Of course he had to have a slushy, icy thing too. That’s okay though, we got to have an adult version called beer.
You’ll notice a lot of race cars and historical automotive pics in the slideshow. Our good friend Jeanette’s dad, Mr. Dick Woodland has procured a TON of beautiful race cars, old and new that are in a designated building on display. You can read more about that here.
If you haven’t been before, be sure to come out next year and enjoy the festivities. Check the slideshow below to get an idea of what it’s like.
