A couple of weeks back we had another one of those “great meals” like the one I wrote about recently at Il Cortile Ristorante in Paso Robles. This time it was at The Hatch in downtown Paso Robles. I’ve written about them before but I wanted to fill you in on what we had this time in case you haven’t had one of these dishes. We ordered many things and they were shared between three people.
Here’s what we ordered:
Pimento Cheese – Guanciale, chicken fat toast, house pickles $11.00
Baby Artichokes – Grilled baby artichokes, lemon creme fraiche, spring garlic, preserved lemon, sage $10.00
Grilled Caesar – Grilled romaine, parmesan dressing, chicken fat croutons, cracked black pepper, parmesan. This salad is $8.00 but for $4.00 you can add rotisserie chicken. Of course we did.
Sausage – Wild boar boudin, cornbread panzanella $13.00
Burrata – Burrata alla Panna, grilled strawberries, chicken fat toast $11.00
Everything was terrific but if I had to pick two dishes that were my favorite I’d go with the Pimento Cheese and Grilled Caesar. We’ve been a sucker for the Caesar salad since they opened. If you haven’t ordered these dishes I encourage you to give them a shot.
I wonder where our next “off the charts” dinner will be.
Side note: My apologies for the blurry photo of the Pimento Cheese. I was just so damn excited.
