Annie and I recently celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. We found ourselves in Pismo Beach for an overnight at the resort where we got married. Then we realized that Sans Liege, a small wine producer we’ve heard many great things about, was located right nearby. So what are we supposed to do? No brainer. Go to Sans Liege. Taste wine. Celebrate!
So that’s what we did and this is what we tasted:
“Contemporary” Wine Tasting – $15.00 (waived with purchase of a bottle)
2013 Cotes du Coast (White Rhone Blend/ Central Coast) $26.00
2013 Fool’s Errand (Grenache/ Santa Barbara County) $29.00
2013 Long Way Home (Syrah/ Santa Barbara County) $29.00
2013 Take The Pebble (Mourvedre/ Santa Barbara County) $29.00
2013 The Offering (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre/ Santa Barbara County) $29.00
XII/ XIII/ XIV Transcendentalist (Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre/ Santa Barbara County) $29.00
“Classic” Wine Tasting – $15.00 (waived with purchase of a bottle)
2014 Call To Arms (Grenache Blanc & Roussanne/ Alta Colina Vineyard) $30.00
2012 En Gedi (Grenache/ Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard) $40.00
2013 Pickpocket (Grenache/ Westside Paso Robles) $44.00
2013 The Offering (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre/ Santa Barbara County) $29.00
2013 Adversary (Mourvedre/ Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard) $44.00
The wines were really nice. A couple of our favorites were the Cotes du Coast, Transcendentalist, Pickpocket, and The Adversary. Without question a tasting room worth visiting for the wines alone. That said, the tasting room is super cool as well.
I’d describe it as hip, modern, easy going vibe, and a great spot to sit and have a glass. There is also a back patio to hang out on and from what I recall they do have live music from time to time.
Side notes:
The winemaker is Curt Schalchlin and he’s also involved with Tin City Cider in Paso Robles.
Sans Liege is located at 870 Price Street in Pismo Beach.
They are conveniently located very near Cracked Crab, which is delicious and also where we had lunch prior to tasting there. The more you know.
Cheers!
