We were recently cruising around Avila Beach and came across the Croma Vera Wines tasting room. I had heard of them before through the Garagiste Festival but had not yet had the chance to have their wines. So…the perfect opportunity presents itself and we couldn’t pass that up.
The tasting room is large and offers several different spots to sit and hangout for your wine tasting or glass of wine. You can see some photos of the space in the slideshow below. The owners, Mindy and Chris, were in the tasting room and while Mindy took care of us, Chris was kind enough to bring their “Emergency Distraction Kit” (toy bin) out for Sammy. That one made us chuckle.
Here’s what we tasted:
Rose of Tempranillo 2015 (Kiler Canyon Vineyard) $23.00
Albarino 2016 (Spanish Springs Vineyard) $26.00
Tempranillo Joven 2015 (Kiler Canyon Vineyard) $34.00
Tempranillo 2015 – Not sure of price, it was not on the menu. The above Tempranillo was 5 months in oak while this one was 16 months.
Grenache 2015 (Kiler Canyon Vineyard) $42.00
Revelacion 2015 (56% Tempranillo 18% Grenache 18% Cabernet Sauvignon 8% Petite Sirah) $38.00
Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 (Plummer Vineyard) – Not sure of price, it was not on the menu.
This is one of those wine tasting experiences that put a smile on my face. The wines were fantastic. We ended up purchasing the Rose, Albarino, and the Tempranillo Joven. Mindy and Chris, along with consulting winemaker Jeremy Leffert, are doing something right.
A big thank you to Mindy for taking such good care of us and for allowing Sammy to bring one of those trucks from the “Emergency Distraction Kit” home with him. He’s still playing with it all the time.
Be sure to check out Croma Vera Wines next time you’re enjoying the day in Avila!
