Although the Cubanissimo Food Truck has been around for a bit we hadn’t yet had the opportunity to check them out. Luckily, on a recent visit to Tin City Cider, they were there ready to start slinging food and we were ready to eat. Before we get to the food, here’s a little info from their website:
“Husband and wife team, Arqui and Chrystal Trenado, brought the Cubanissimo Cuban Food Truck to life on the Central Coast in February 2016. It now operates in both SLO and SB Counties.
Sharing Arqui’s cultural heritage with the local community through authentic Cuban cuisine has been an American dream come true!
Cubanissimo looks forward to sharing their latest adventure, the Cubanissimo Cuban Coffee House & Cafe in Orcutt. The cafe offers a high-quality, fast-casual Cuban dining experience where patrons can get the Cuban food they have come to love in a more traditional setting.”
A fun side note, Chrystal is Annie’s cousin. And no, that does not impact our views on their food. Good is good. Here’s what we ordered and shared:
Cubano Sandwich – marinated pork, ham, Swiss cheese, mustard and pickles on Cuban bread served with yuca fries (Cassava fries with garlic dipping sauce)
Cuban black beans served over rice served with tostones (Twice-fried crunchy plantains with garlic dipping sauce)
No kidding, the food was phenomenal! The black beans and rice were incredibly flavorful. I had never had yuca fries or tostones before but loved them…so did Annie. It was one of those experiences where you loved the food you ordered but it made you want to try one of everything on the menu. A good problem to have, I suppose.
We are definitely adding this truck to the list of food to follow. Check out their brick and mortar location down in Orcutt but also follow their food truck Facebook page in order to find out where they’ll be.
Keep up the good work, Arqui and Chrystal!
