We recently went out to Eberle Winery to talk to Gary Eberle about Cabernet Sauvignon in honor of the International #CabernetDay event that is taking place on September 1st. We are honored to be co-hosts here in Paso Robles and the “Headquarters” is Pithy Little Wine Co., in their new location in downtown Paso Robles. So, who better to chat with than Gary??? We’re not sure anyone knows more about Cab in Paso Robles than him. After all, Cab Sauv is his favorite wine!
He is without question a wealth of knowledge about wine; wine in Paso Robles, Cabernet, and the history of wine country, so it was awesome to spend a little time with him. Check out the video, and look into #CabernetDay (hashtagged because it is a Twitter and Facebook event…taste and tweet), there just may be a get together in your area. Open a bottle and join us…we’ll be waiting for you!!!

Hi Bev, thanks! We’ll definitely be doing more with Gary in the future…maybe out in the vineyard, too! He’s a huge wealth of knowledge in the Paso Robles wine region. We love hearing his stories! Cheers!!!

What a pompous blowhard. You know he makes that all up. He has no idea what he’s talking about he just loves to talk. If you really want to know what happened in Paso you have to talk to Vic Roberts, Tom Myers, Herman Schwartz, the Pesentis and Nerellis, Stan Hoffman, Niels Udsen, Toby Shumrick, Chuck Ortman, Ken Volk, and so many more that worked so hard to make make Paso the great wine region that it is. My main cortribution was to spread the merde which I must say I am very good at.
It has been so much fun to watch and be a part of the emergence of Paso not only as a great wine area, but the whole way the town has developed into such as wonderful place to live with great resturants, and entertainment, and the way the city has grown around the park. It has become a reaaly fine community.
If we could just get some people to start a wine blog about Paso it would be perfect.

Nice, Gary! Well, if you made all that up then you definitely have some good story-telling skills! You really had us going!
We’ve definitely loved watching and learning about how Paso has grown into an awesome wine community and a great town, too. We don’t have the historical perspective that you have, but I think we can all agree that the change has been incredible.
We’ll see what we can do about that wine blog problem…after all, all the cool kids are blogging!

Mr Eberle, hope you and your knee are well! Thanks again for Syrah clones.
I’ve loved your wines, and a few standouts from memory are ’97,’99.’00, and more recently loving that ’07. The Love & Kisses is just a rock’n bottle of juice! Thank you for all of your contributions to the entire wine industry, and thank you for bringing it all to Paso. Go Blue!
Hoot 'n Annie says
Cheers, Shawn! We second everything!!!
Gary says
Shawn that ’97 was a great wine even if I have to say so. The others and the L+K are outstanding also.
The knee is getting better as the feral cat they sewed up inside seems to be settling down or just getting old.
