This should become a new segment because as you know, we don’t necessarily critique wine but we do love to find out what’s out there and then pass that info on to all four of you that read this blog. Due to the fact that we get exposed to so many different types of wine via all the wineries near us, the travel we do, the samples we get sent, and our amazing friends that share their awesome wines with us…we think it’s great to pass those on to you through this blog or Facebook or Hoot’s MANY Instagram photos of alcohol. Whether it’s box wine, dog wine, or bubbly…we love it all!
So, the few below were samples sent to us that were fun to learn about:
1. Box Wine
Yep, box wine, and we liked it. We got a box of Jack Tone Vineyards (McManis Family Vineyards) white wine bottle blend and a box of their red wine bottle blend. So many people riff on box wine, typically the snotty wine peeps that we wouldn’t want to drink with anyways, but these wines were actually pretty good. The red surprised us the most. Not sure about the price point on this. Thank you to Benson Marketing Group for these badass boxes!
2. Dog Wine
We received 2 bottles from Cru Vin Dogs Wine Group, a bottle of Sonoma County Chardonnay and one of the Sonoma County Red Wine. Their website says each bottle is $12.99 and a portion of the profits from their wines go to charities for dogs. Their mission: “We exist to combine our passions – friendship, wine, art and our love of dogs – into a wine brand that has a purpose.” You can see the art aspect on each label which is created by Jay P. Snellgrove, one of the partners. We think that wine and philanthropy need to become more mainstream…social good is where it’s at. Well done Cru Vin Dogs!! Thank you to Parker Sanpei for these great bottles!
3. Rosy Bubbly
Rosa Regale Banfi– We got this sparkling a while back and thought it would be great on one of those 100 degree Paso Robles days, with a chill to it and the fruity sweetness, bring on the heat! The price point is around $16 which is really reasonable for a fun bubbly. Definitely a great one to celebrate with! Thank you to Banfi Vintners for sharing this fun one!
We really appreciate the samples from the above places and as we always say, find the story. Every single person and every single wine has a unique story…even if it’s a box wine! It’s such a great way to connect!

Wine in a box?
Is that like cigars in a bottle?

Hmmm…good question! It could be a little like that! Although smoking a cigar out of a bottle could look a little strange! Cheers!!!

Have you had Chateau Margene’s Box Wine, ‘El Pistolero’? That’s some quality Cardbordeaux…
Hoot 'n Annie says
We have NOT, Mitch! But it’s on our short list…along with Cass’ box label, too! Definitely some great juice going into boxes out there.

Drinking wine from a box. I don’t think I should go there.

Hey Gary…you might be surprised! But then again, I might agree with you…
