One of the many tasting rooms located in the beautiful downtown of Paso Robles, Pianetta Winery was started in 2002 by John Pianetta and his daughter, Caitlin. However, John began growing grapes on his property a few miles north of Paso Robles roughly 20 years ago. So, don’t call it a comeback, they’ve been here for years. See what I did there?
The tasting room, which is located on 13th Street, is a cool little spot with the island style tasting bar, meaning they are in the middle and tasters surround them. Scary, right? Just kidding. What that does mean though, is that there is good space for those crowded wine tasting days. The service on this visit was good as well. As you know my biggest pet peeve on the planet is bad customer service so I’m happy to see local businesses doing good work.
Now, let’s get down to business…here’s what we tasted:
2012 Sangiovese $34.00
2012 Merlot $32.00
2012 Barbera $34.00
2012 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon $35.00
2012 Petite Sirah $34.00
The wines were very nice. We especially enjoyed the Sangiovese, the Merlot, and Barbera. So there you have it. It was a fun spot and one we had not been back to in some time. It’s always nice to revisit. Be sure to check them out and let me know what you think!

I love their wines and especially their cool jug of Zin!

Laura, great wines and the jug wine stuff is fun for sure. Unique…more wineries are doing that…Rotta, Donati and more.
