You may have seen my recent post on the opening night event for Sunset Savor the Central Coast. If you did you know how amazing that night was. We also attended the Sunday main event at Santa Margarita Ranch in Santa Margarita. It’s been a few years since we attended the main event weekend. We were busy having a child and all that.
That said, it was good to get back to this event that promotes and highlights some amazing wineries, chefs, and so much more. You can see a full list of vendors here. There are so many that it would probably take you all day Saturday and Sunday to visit them all but that’s part of what makes this event so incredible. It’s quite literally Disneyland for the food and wine lover.
As you’ll see from the 20,000 photos (just a joke) in the slideshow below, there was a lot going on. We jumped right in by stopping in at wineries like Halter Ranch, Hearst Ranch, Broken Earth Winery, and Clavo Cellars. Then we saw Krobar Distillery and had to stop in to see Joe (co-owner) and get a taste of the cocktail they made.
Then it was on to Roxo Port Cellars and the delicious port wine and cheese pairings they came up with. What do you do after that? All about a palate cleanse. So it was on to the Bristol’s Cider House booth to do just that. I won’t go on and on about all the booths we stopped at but you get the idea. It was almost overload for the senses. Where should we stop next? I don’t know, what do you think? How about this place because it has no line right now?
Yep, it worked out something like that for the four or so hours we were there. We were able to sip and taste a good number of amazing California creations. This event serves as a reminder just how inventive, creative, and delicious California is.
We had a flavorful lettuce wrap creation from Paso Catering Co. An amazing scone from The Muffin Goddess. A unique creation from Foremost, goat tartare on a chip…I know I’m missing some of the ingredients on this one but it was out of this world. As with the wine, I won’t bore you with all the foodie stops we made but trust me, amazing stuff happening in the California food scene.
Live music. Cider. Beer. Wine. Spirits. Food. Seminars. Chefs. Art. Jewelry. And on and on and on. Oh, speaking of jewelry, Annie purchased a bracelet and necklace from a woman who lives down on the Chumash Reservation. We had a very cool conversation with her and it was a pleasure seeing her art.
We quite literally spent Sunday “savoring the central coast”…and beyond. The Sunset Savor staff continues to do an incredible job setting this event up and making it one of the go-to events in San Luis Obispo County.
