A couple of weeks back we had two friends in town. Denise from Phoenix and Christine from Toronto. They came into town to hang out with us, go wine tasting, and attend Beaverstock at Castoro Cellars. We managed to cross all three things off the list.
Tablas Creek was one of several spots we decided to take them. Here’s what we tasted:
2013 Marsanne (100% Marsanne) $30.00
2012 Esprit De Tablas Blanc (75% Roussanne, 20% Grenache Blanc, 5% Picpoul Blanc) $45.00
2014 Dianthus Rose (46% Mourvedre, 41% Grenache Noir, 13% Counoise) $27.00
2013 Vioginer (100% Vioginer) $30.00
2013 Patelin De Tablas (45% Syrah, 29% Grenache Noir, 22% Mourvedre, 4% Counoise) $18.00 (special)
2012 Cotes De Tablas (60% Grenache Noir, 25% Syrah, 10% Counoise, 5% Mourvedre) $35.00
2012 Esprit De Tablas (40% Mourvedre, 30% Syrah, 21% Grenache Noir, 9% Counoise) $55.00
2011 Esprit De Tablas (40% Mourvedre, 30% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah, 10% Counoise) $60.00
2013 Mourvedre (100% Mourvedre) $40.00
Annie and I love the Tablas Creek white wines. Can’t go wrong with any of them. The Dianthus Rose is always a hit as well. The Patelin and the Esprit De Tablas wines were also tasting great that day. In my view, Tablas Creek makes wines that are not only easy to drink on their own but also stand up to food. From our first visit there roughly seven years ago, they have always managed to be one of our local favorites.
Tablas has a really interesting story as well, you can check that out here.
I have a few more blog posts coming out over the next few days that will include other wineries we took our friends to. Be on the lookout for those.
Cheers!
