This piece by Dove is a fantastic move. I had not seen it until recently when Annie shared it with me and it definitely brought tears to my eyes. Above and beyond that, I know Dove is in this to make money, they are a business after allâ?¦but the idea is important and needed.
We need to embrace, respect, and appreciate the good dads. The dads that are involved and love their kids. We hear enough about all the assholes out there but maybe a movement like this can make being a dad cool. Maybe it can help spark conversation and further this idea of competent, capable dads.
Iâ??m not saying that Iâ??m the best dad, I donâ??t think there is a best. I think all that any of us can do is show up every single day and try to be better than we were the day before. If we can do that each and every day then we are a success.
Although I never pictured my life to be where it is at this point, (who does?) I am fortunate beyond words to be able to spend the time I do with Sammy. I know itâ??s hard on Annie sometimes because she has to leave the house to go to work while I work from home but I am still immensely appreciative that I can be home. Itâ??s been therapeutic, life changing, challenging, and nothing in my life has brought more personal growth than this.
