I was just taking a moment to look back over my day as to what was accomplished, what needs to be accomplished, and what needs to be outlined for tomorrow. For me that means running my house painting business here in California, as well as a window cleaning business and a photography business. To be fair, the window cleaning and the photography don’t consume a large chunk of my day, but the painting business most certainly does.
On top of that my wife has her full time gig, plus we have ventured in to blogging (3 to be exact) as well as consulting. I’m always trying to read patterns, trends, see where things are headed in order to properly steer this ship. This takes time, dedication, research, brainstorming, and not much sleep evidently. In no way am I complaining though, I really do love feeling tired. It makes me feel productive and it keeps me pushing, being relentless. So, I need a couple more hours in my day; but I feel that’s probably not going to happen by addition. But, it can happen through better time management. It’s about being effective and efficient.
Schedule your day so things are fluid and forward moving. If you feel like you’re hitting walls it may make more sense to step back, and take 15 minutes to do nothing. Meditation, deep breathing, or just sitting in a quiet place can bring you back to “focus”. My goal now is to be more effective and efficient with time and tasks, take short 5 to 15 minute breaks several times throughout my day where I do NOTHING, and my belief is I will accomplish more. I’m liking the word fluid I mentioned above, everything moving fluidly…good goal I think. So what do you do to manage a 24 hour period?
