Yes, I have them, and no I’m not crazy. This morning has been a little overwhelming (in my brain) due to having my hands in too many cookie jars or irons in the fire…which ever analogy you prefer. So I found myself spinning rather than gaining traction and that always makes the issue far worse. I tend to start doing stuff that looks busy but is accomplishing nothing.
So what did I do? I reminded myself that today is an amazing day because I’m here and all I can do is all I can do; so slow down and start crossing stuff off of the never ending list. After taking that in for a few minutes I managed to get two proposals out as well as make three phone calls in less than one hour. Now I have momentum moving forward in the day as well as another blog post (two birds one stone, love that).
The best thing to do when you’re feeling overwhelmed is to:
1) Walk away
2) Breathe
3) Remember that all you can do is all you can do
4) Focus in on some small accomplishments to at least gain some traction; that always helps moving forward with continued productivity. If you’re missing the three point shots, go for some easy layups until confidence is restored.
5) Read something motivational or inspiring (corny but it works for me)
That’s all I have for now, cheers folks!! Oh, and get to work on kickin’ today’s ass!!
