What is life? Is life only happening when things are going “good” (whatever your definition of good is)? Or is life 24/7 all the time? My assumption is that life is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week…each and every second of each and every day!
You can Google what the average life span is and I am sure you’ll find some slightly different numbers but I saw 78.4 years which seems about right. Now…78.4 years equals 28,616 days which equals 686,784 hours which equals 41,207,040 minutes…wow, seems like a lot right? Well, I am 34 years old (and a few months but we will round off) so I have already lived 12,410 days which equals 297,840 hours which equals 17,870,400 minutes…holy crap.
Now the real math (on average), I have 44.4 years left, 16,206 days left, 388,944 hours left, and 23,336,640 minutes left…perspective. However, based on some family history (the men in my family) 78.4 is wishful thinking…but guess what; it does not matter how much time you potentially have left! What really matters is how you are spending this minute, this hour, this day!!
What are you doing to give meaning to your life? What are you doing to leave a mark, a dent, on the world? What are you doing to be engaged and connected? And don’t tell me your legacy is your kids, that’s pretty and all but what have YOU done?

To add to this Matt, if you can think of ten things you did to help someone, there’s probably ten more you didn’t realize you did to help someone and ten more you didn’t realize you hurt or hindered someone. And what’s ironic is the folks you mentioned about leaving their children as a legacy? These children were probably the recipients of many of the things not realized.
Could makes one want to go hmmmm….doesn’t it?
Matt says
Cheri, in regards to the children being legacy, what did you mean by ‘Could make one want to go hmm’?
Cheri says
Actually it was an overall comment, but specifically with children as a legacy…I said sometimes parents help their children and sometimes hinder their children but are unaware of doing either. Might be in something they say to them, advice they give them, etc. How can you ever really know all of the things you say were for the best even if your intentions meant well. I find this ironic and makes me want to go hmmm.
Matt says
Gotcha Cheri!! Lots of things make me go hmmmmm!! LOL, thanks again!!
